Builderhead is a Finnish, innovative software company that provides a digital platform for managing and planning real estate, construction and energy projects. The company was founded by Sami Kivensalo (CEO) and Julius Tuomikoski, both of whom have a solid background in combining the construction industry and technology.

Builderhead's customer base consists of real estate development, construction and energy development companies that want to leverage the latest technology more effectively in their real estate projects. They are looking for solutions that speed up processes and improve productivity.

Challenge

Builderhead’s growth has reached a point where it is necessary to accurately model different billing periods into cash flow forecasts. This is essential for the company to plan its financial operations over the long term and ensure that resources are allocated efficiently. The company’s rapid expansion and increasing complexity of financial operations have created a need for a more advanced tool that can handle large amounts of data and provide accurate analytics.

The traditional tools they had previously used, such as Google Sheets, had proven inadequate for these new requirements. While flexible and accessible, Google Sheets could not handle complex financial calculations or provide the deep analytics necessary for growing businesses like Builderhead.

Getting started​​​

Caleido, which specializes in financial planning and analysis, was deployed in December 2023 to meet Builderhead's growing needs. This software allowed Builderhead to address a challenge that traditional tools such as Google Sheets previously couldn't solve.

Solution

Julius Tuomikoski created the necessary interface codes for their current accounting system, Procountor. This took only two minutes. The integration of the interface codes into Caleido was seamless, and the data transfer was quick and easy. Caleido provided Builderhead with customized remote training, specifically focused on Builderhead's needs. The training lasted one hour at a time and was completed five times in total.

Julius quickly gained full control of Buildhead's finances, including costs, revenues, and investments, and was able to create accurate forecasts and budgets for the following year.

In collaboration with Caleido, Julius developed a special management report that provided deeper insight into the company's financial situation. This improved customer profitability monitoring and supported him in planning future investments and recruitments.

The implementation of Caleido significantly improved Builderhead's financial planning and monitoring. The 2024 budget was prepared for the first time using Caleido, which enabled more accurate and flexible financial planning and improved visibility into growth and the company's financial development.
